Pit to Prison to Power
And who might that be? You guessed it! Joseph of the book of Genesis. I just told you about our trip to the Sight and Sound production of this story and now I wanted to let you know we just completed our week long VBS on the same story. It was quite a blessing. The really good thing about it is that the number of children who attended from the community far outweighed the number of children who came from church families. Pray that the Lord will use our efforts to His glory in the lives of these children and their parents.
We took lots of pictures, but I'm sharing a couple which I took that included my granddaughters. The top one is of Selena's class during their craft time on Friday. You can see her in the purple sun visor (which she had just decorated) intent on getting the little beads onto the pipe cleaner. Shana is too young to attend, but one of the ladies at church who had nursery duty gave her little bits of time to work on "projects" of her own. Shana was pretty happy, especially since Mrs. H. has always been a favorite of hers.
We all enjoyed it but are tired and thankful that it's over. Btw, I was the registrar for the first time. I really liked doing that and walking around being a utility person. Good exercise which was sorely needed!

VBS is such a wonderful ministry. So delighted to hear about many neighborhood cildren attending. I pray it will be the start of the families worship God with your body.
It sounds like it was all a wonderful success Maxine. I'm sure you have touched the hearts of so many children who might never had heard the word before. What a blessing!
That is great news...outreach ministries...especially for kids...are so important...
VBS is one of my strong memories of growing up, and for the little ones you all spent time with this past week, I pray it will be one of theirs, also. I love the pictures of your granddaughters, Maxine; they are so adorable. I am sure Gid was glorified and hearts were stirred towards Him.
Blessings and love,
Laurie
My kids always loved VBS. It's SUCH a great ministry. Sadly, many moms are really just looking to have a break from their kids during the summer, so they take them to every VBS in town. BUT that means those dear kids are exposed to Bible truth, which is ALWAYS a good thing.
I love the story of Joseph. It has given me encouragement when I have been waiting a long time for something.
Have a lovely day.
Love,
Patti
Oh wow, I would love to have seen Joseph. My parents just saw it. It is my all time favorite Bible story. So much to be learned from the life of Joseph.
We just passed the Lancaster area this week as we drove out to where my oldest will be attending college.
How nice too that your VBS had to do with Joseph. Our VBS had a Egypt base too (not the story of Joseph however.) We used Answers in Genesis and I LOVED the solid Bible teaching and Gospel presentation. I'm VBS director and I do believe that I will use their materials again.
Your grandbabies are growing up - so cute! Thanks for sharing!
The story of Joseph has been following me around whereever I go these past few days. Apparently the Lord has something for me to take another look at.
So happy your vbs was a success!
Have a wonderful day Maxine!
That sounds like a wonderful ministry, Maxine. Thanks for your sweet comment about my music. Love you ~
