No Repeat

My dear Phillies went into the World Series trying to defend their World Championship crown from last year and be the first National League team to repeat in a long time. Well, the Yankees said "No, you can't keep it; we want it and we're gonna get it." And sadly for my team, the Yankees did just that and took it away. Wasn't that mean of them? Don't we teach our children not to snatch when someone else has something? Tch, tch, the Yankees just have no manners whatsoever. Oh boy, I guess I have to excuse it this time and begrudgingly offer them and their fans my congratulations. And in case you are wondering, I am NOT sorry that I changed my allegiance from the Yanks to the Phils. And boy, have I!

I think I appreciated this Phillies team even more than I did last year when they won. Somehow, watching them during that final inning touched me as a fan. As a commenter wrote this morning on a blog post by one of the players: "Even in Shane's [Victorina] final at-bat tonight, even tho you were down 4 runs, with 2 outs in the 9th he did not just give up and took a 10 pitch at-bat. And that to me represents this team." I would agree. Sure, they did upset me by not playing as well as I think they can in many situations during the series. I see some areas of needed changes. But I won't talk about that now. I just wanted to affirm my "fan" status and to say that I am looking forward to next year.

I thought about you last night. I'm so sorry the Phillies didn't win. I was hoping they would.

Thanks, Linda. That was sweet of you to care about your friend. :-)

So sorry about your dear Phillies. They certainly fought a good fight and played well. I was sure the series would go a full 7 games. You will probably be comforting me before too long @ the Saints. I mean how much longer can or will they hold out? Blessing Maxine

Oh, that's right. I heard about the great season the Saints are having. Hope they do well--except when playing the Giants, that is!

Haha, Denise. I just hope the Cards and Phils don't end up playing each other for the NL pennant. We might lose our friendship over it!

i was sorry to see the phillies lose, too. i wasn't happy when they beat my rockies, but they did and i was rooting for them all the way to the last pitch.

i'm even sorrier that the baseball season is over. i feel a little lost. but looking forward to the next season. go rockies! =)

Diana!

Sure is nice to have so many friends all rooting together!

That's right! You're out there in Colorodo with all that snow. We were all saying what would the series have been like this past weekend if it had been there. I always like the Rockies. Rooted for them against Boston two years ago. I like their uniforms! I'm kinda dumb that way. I like certain uniforms and don't like the high socks!

I too always feel sad when the baseball season is over. We usually put all the games on the radio and listen while we go about our other things in life. It's always there, from April through October and we miss it when it's over! Well, spring training is not too far away!

Yes, it was very disappointing...not only that the Phillies lost, but that the Yankees won. As Red Sox fans, we definitely root against the Yankees!!

Maybe next year they can take the crown back again. Here's hoping so.

Garrett dreads this time of year---no baseball season until spring training starts in March. He and I both hate winter, but for VERY different reasons!! LOL

Patti--I was thinking about Garrett the other night. Must have been hard for him to see them celebrating. Btw, did you notice we only saw Brad the one time during the Series? No wonder, after what happened that one time.

I feel the same as Garrett; kind of dreary not having baseball to listen to or games to anticipate and talk about. But my nerves need a break. Well, we can get ready for Christmas! For me, perhaps I can get some long needed projects done.

Hi Maxine, I was away so probably no one will even see my 2 cents - but, as a life-long Yankees fan, I have to say, "WAY TO GO YANKEES!!" What a way to celebrate the new stadium. I am so excited...(but I must mention, for your sake I did cheer for the Phillies in the World Series LAST year.) THE YANKEES WIN.. I love it. 8) 8) I love you too. XO

Listen, Barb. I can well understand your excitement. I was a lifelong Yanks fan and would have been out of my skin with excitement too if the Phils had not stolen my heart a few years back. See how fickle I am? Enjoy your status this following year. I sure did enjoy mine this past year, so why should I begrudge you. Congrats to your team.
