Unusual Santas

Is it just me or do people have too much time on their hands these days? And I'm not just talking about us Americans. This event, whatever it was, took place in South Korea. I don't know...maybe they're trying to get their minds off the problems they're having coming from up north. Seems to me they better be concentrating on the folks from the "northern kingdom" as there is nothing funny about them.

Also, as cute as these little penguins may be, and as much as I like animals, I am really bothered by the waste of money that we see going on here and abroad on foolishness when there is so much worldwide hunger. Sorry, but that's my two cents for whatever it's worth. Tell me if I'm wrong--I don't mind.

What???

What will they do next?

A Golden Retriever, dyed to look like a tiger, plays with a Chow Chow, dyed to look like a panda, at the Dahe Pet Civilization Park in Zhengzhou, Henanprovince June 8, 2010. (Per Yahoo News.) You know, I think our world is slowly turning itself upside down and this is just another indication.
I love animals , particularly adorable ones, and these guys definitely are cute, but I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Light Moment

Junior: Mom, the new baby looks just like Rover.

Mom: Junior! Don't say such a thing.

Junior: It's okay, Mom. Rover can't hear me.

Bulldog Puppies

A notice in a weekly newspaper advertised bulldog puppies.

"Cute, already housebroken." the advertisement promised. "Eat most any food you put in front of them. Love children."

Phillies Pup

Sorry, I couldn't resist. You know how hard it is for me to resist posting cute doggies. And this one is a Phillies fan. I swiped this off of our local Fox webpage, where they have loads of neat photos of fans, including babies and pets. I think the red on the white is quite attractive, don't you? Not that I would ever do such a thing to our Frodo, but he is an all black cocker mix and I think the red on black would look even better. With the current climate in the country these days, thought I should mention that I'm not being racial or anything, folks...

Hi Friends!

This is a picture of how I feel these days. The old brain isn't working very well and sitting at the computer isn't the best thing because of a pain in the neck I picked up somehow. Now, I am referring to literal pain, not to any person that I may know. Don't ask me how I got it; I woke up like this on Saturday morning. So for now I'm just "doctoring" this thing, hoping with all my might that it goes away before we leave for vacation the end of next week. I'll try to make pop visits to see some of you here and there, but I doubt if I'll be posting for a couple of days. Hope summer's off to a good start for all of you!

By the way, this is a picture of a "peafowl." Maybe that's what a female peacock is called or is it a separate breed?

Tree Kangaroo

By the way, Neesie reminded me that I needed to come back and say what the animal is in the picture for last Thursday's post. It's a tree kangaroo. I've never heard of it before and apparently it's endangered. And I don't know how big it is. My intent is to go look it up and read up on it, but haven't had the time yet. One blogger guessed it after a few days--Kristina (Baptist Girl) knew what it was but nobody else did. Lisa (Speak On It With Lisa S.) had the most interesting response. Most people thinks the little critter is cute, but Lisa sure didn't. I had a few good laughs that evening when I got her response!

Hey there

Have you ever seen one of these before? Do you know what it is? Maybe you've seen this photo already? If not, can you guess? I think he's cute, by the way.

Obviously, it's hard to find time to post with the way things are around here again, so I just stopped by to let you know what's happening. I'M SWAMPED! For now, I'll leave this cute fella here until I can get back with something with more substance. Also, I'm trying to "steal" time to get by to see some of you guys soon. Haven't forgotten you--really I haven't!

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods and that you're pressing on with Jesus by your side.

Cuteness

Ahhh, I needed this. You folks know what I weakness I have for these creatures. Look at the reaction of this little fella, a Golden Retriever puppy, at the news conference about his breed once again having the distinction of being the most popular dog in America for the eighteenth consecutive year.

Another news item: I just learned something about Barney, the Bush's infamous White House Scottish Terrior (Neesie and I are fans of his). I just heard that he recently bit a reporter. I can't give any further details about this, but if it's true, it looks like he's more on top of things than a lot of people. Just kidding (sort of). Hopefully, he'll enjoy his remaining years in Texas and he and his family will mostly be among people who love them.

Now, don't you feel better?

Campaign Dog

I couldn't resist it! You folks know how I am about dogs--this was just too much cuteness for me to resist posting it. This puppy is Rose La Rose from Ohio and I stole this picture from the blog of Senator McCain's daughter Meghan. If you want to see some excellent photography from the campaign trail of Meghan's father, go to her blog. Most of the photography is done by her friend Heather, who is a professional. Beautiful shots--well worth perusing:

If you want to see more photos of Rose La Rose, go to the post from October 5th entitled "California and Ohio." She is just tooo cute! Did I say that already?

Have a Title?

It's been so long again! And I have so little to say these days! I'm a busy bee around my home here as I would suppose you are too. But I'm always ready to share photos of God's wonderful creatures, so here's another one for my "animal crackers" page. I do have a title in mind which I'll tell you in a few days, but I thought it would be fun to hear some other ideas in case I find one I like better. Let me hear yours if you have one.

"Lion in the Snow"

It's pretty obvious to me that Mr. Lion of two posts back is enjoying his time in the snow. He reminds me a bit of a puppy during its first winter. Taking that into account, and after consulting with another "professional blogger," our newest animal cracker picture now bears the title "Just Lion in the Snow," offered by Baptist Girl. I like captions that have a play on words, and I think kids will understand this one quite well. Thanks, everybody. We liked so many of your ideas and some gave us quite a chuckle. When you get a chance, go visit Mr. Lion and his other friends here.

Thanks again!

Another One

Here I go again, with one of my naming games. You all know I have a weakness for these and that I like to make up titles and/or captions for animal pictures from time to time. Okay, so I'm a little strange, but you like me anyway. Get your mind off the election for a while--if you think about it too much you'll end up depressed. Remember, the Lord has not lost control and He's sovereign. So, here's one of His gorgeous creatures and a caption for this picture would be nice. Could someone out there pick one that I can't resist posting on my "Animal Crackers" page at our website? This is a fairly new page in our children's section at the site and it would be fun to see what goodies you folks can come up with. You usually have good ideas.

A Chicken Crossed A Road?

Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?

You folks know how much I like riddles; this one has been around for a long time (since before the 1890's, according to Wikipedia), and all the variations of answers have given us chuckles over the years. My daughter Neesie forwarded to me an email with a few I hadn't heard, which gave me a few laughs on this day after Super Tuesday. That's part of the reason I needed it. I selected a few of the answers in the hopes this post might lighten the day for a few other folks:

DR. PHIL : " The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he must first deal with the problem on 'THIS' side of the road before it goes after the problem on the 'OTHER SIDE' of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he's acting by not taking on his 'CURRENT' problems before adding 'NEW' problems ".

COLIN POWELL: " Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road..." .

ANDERSON COOPER - CNN: "We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road."

JOHN KERRY: "Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against it."

MARTHA STEWART: "No one called me to warn me which way that chicken was going. I had a standing order at the Farmer's Market to sell my eggs when the price dropped to a certain level. No little bird gave me any insider information."

DR SEUSS: "Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told."

ERNEST HEMINGWAY: " To die on the road. Alone."

GRANDPA: "In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough."

BARBARA WALTERS: "Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its life long dream of crossing the road."

JOHN LENNON: "Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads together, in peace."

ARISTOTLE: " It is the nature of chickens to cross the road."

BILL GATES: "I have just released eChicken2007, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your check book. Internet Explorer is an integral part of eChicken.

ALBERT EINSTEIN: "Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken "

BILL CLINTON: " I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What is your definition of chicken "

AL GORE: " I invented the chicken!"

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.: "I have a dream that one day chickens will be able to cross roads without having their motives called into question."

CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY: "We can neither confirm nor deny any involvement in the chicken-road-crossing incident."

COLONEL SANDERS: "Did I miss one?"

MAXINE: Aww, the poor little chicken--having been made fun of all these years.

Title, Please

Of all the customers that come to our feeding station, I think the titmouse is my favorite one to watch. Years ago, I actually had one that would chase me around the yard and eat peanuts out of my hand. It didn't last long because he disappeared after about a week of doing that. I was sad after I first realized that he was gone. Maybe this spring I'll try "training" another one.

As usual, my photo needs a title--leave your choice in a comment. I don't always do this, but for this one I have a nice little cello gift bag for the winner. I'll let my husband draw next Wednesday or so. Everybody else is giving away goodies so I thought I'd try to keep up with the Joneses!
