Listmania - The Andy Griffith Show

I just made a new addition to my Amazon Listmania! and hope you won't think me corny or anything. But I do have to admit that I love the Andy Griffith show. We have several DVD's which we picked up various places, with each DVD featuring several episodes of this TV classic. I was just noticing that Amazon has all of the seasons, so I was thinking maybe I should get some of the entire seasons. Listen folks, I don't hesitate to tell you that I have looked at some episodes over and over and I can't help it, I laugh every time. Now tell me the truth: have you ever seen a better comedian than Don Knotts in his role as Barney, " the zealous but inept deputy sheriff." At least we can appreciate Ronny Howard back then, when he played Opie. We won't let what may be happening now take away our enjoyment of what used to be.

Do you have any of these? Are you a fan too? Isn't it wonderful to be able to sit down and watch a TV comedy without worrying about off-color jokes, bad language, or adult themes? Oh, we can't return to these good old days in television, but at least this is one reason we can be thankful for technology--we can go back and get some of them. I have a couple more that I'll be talking about in the future!

A snippet from one of the episodes we have, entitled "Barney's First Car": (Ours is a lot clearer than this.)

Oh yes, we love the Andy Griffith show at our house. It's so nice, as you said, to relax and enjoy a show without worrying about something foul popping up!

I don't sleep well and a lot of times in the middle of the night I'll see an episode of Andy Griffin and I always enjoy them. I remember when we use to watch them all. It is such a shame that we don't have good quality shows like this on TV any more. It is especially bad for the children growing up today.

Thank you so much for giving the website for the China prayer bracelets. I did not know about this and so appreciate the knowledge. I'm going to post the link on my prayer blog, too.

Thank you, Maxine.

I have never seen an episode. Not sure how that happened. I should probably correct that at some point.

Everybody loves Andy. I still can't see You-Tube! My grandson watches it a lot at his house.

Barney made the show for sure.

I used to watch these reruns at my grandmother's house in the summer. What wonderful memories of the sweet air flowing in through the open windows while sitting in her living room. If I close my eyes, I see the furniture, the texture print of the rug, and see her standing there in the doorway with her apron on taking a breather from kitchen duties to see what I was watching. I loved her muchly.

you shared,

Agreed. He played a character. It wasn't about him personally. We see many hollywood persons playing excellent characters and then their real life is far from the wholesome character on the screen. I suppose it's like separating the person from the sin where we can love the person but not the sin.

Sparrow, You brought tears to my eyes as you wrote of your memories of your grandmother. This show almost always brings my mom to my mind. We watched it together often. I'm glad you have those wonderful memories of the sweet air flowing in.

Oh. I forgot to say to Susan thanks for the idea of watching shows like these when I have trouble sleeping.
