Mexico and Beyond

But now they desire a better country, that is an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11:16

Have you been noticing, as I have, that the Lord has been giving us more and more indicators that this world is not our home? It seems to be there is one major "worry" after another; and most of these worries are worldwide. I have tried my best to remember the Who that is in total control of this universe and to be anxious for nothing. But also, you and I must remember the prayer needs of the lost who wrap all of their hopes - be they health, financial or otherwise - on this present world. Oh, what a sad state to be in.

Having said all that, I recognize the need to be sensible and cautious with regard to danger. Apparently in my state there are five confirmed cases of this flu and across the river there is a case involving a two year old boy who, thankfully, has recovered. So what's happening in your area? Are you doing anything to protect yourself, such as taking extra vitamins and staying away from public places? Are you perhaps thinking this is a Chicken Little type thing? Do you have concerns about the way our government is handling the situation? Well, at least we haven't done what the Egyptian government did. Those poor farmers over there.

Just curious. It's something how this whole thing started in one of the world's most popular vacation spots.

Coming to visit some of you this evening when I have some time, hopefully.

Yes, another sign that our blessed Lord is coming soon: "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and PESTILENCES, and earthquakes, in divers places." Matthew 24:7

Pestilence = 1) any virulent or fatal contagious disease - 2) an epidemic of such disease - 3)anything regarded as harmful.

Don't think we've had any cases hear yet, that I have heard about, Maxine. I do have to go to Wal-Mart, but I would suggest staying away from crowded places. I do think they need to close the borders. I am just trying to eat right and exercise more. I hope this flu does not turn into a big, dangerous thing.

I too and sensing the nearness of the Father..... pulling us closer to HIM.... this is not our home but we are living here now....... Me and my DH are not going out to Wal-mart or such and if we do we carry hand sanitizer and we keep an eye on each other not to touch eyes or mouth or nose...... Clean our hands and stay away from crowds... Nothing here in my state and I think it is mostly hype from the media... Not sure why , but it still begs us to be safe and aware of our lives....

You know..I just don't know I read this today:
http://coffeeteabooksandme.blogspot.com/2009/05/pantry-talk-ponderings-about-pandemic.html

I think...how many people die in the USA just of DRUNK drivers...more than what they are talking about...and the list can go on....

I am trying to be prepared for any emergency...deepening my pantry some..not just for US, but to bless others as well, even if I hear someone got laid off...

I have thought this too...funny how this all starts up right after *o* visits Mexico?????
also...what do we expect..for God to look the other way at a country that has so little respect for life.....
I know this..the day I was born, the Lord knew the day HE would call me home..HE numbers my days...
if it is my time, all the hand sanitizer in the WORLD or masks..won't keep me from entering into the presence of my Saviour...and being illness free....I think better thinking would be..what a opportunity to share the Lord...a tool for evangelism...
Sorry this is so long Maxine..I too have been thinking and pondering this, this week.

They have closed all the schools in our area. I think it is good to take precautions, but I can't help but think, too, that they are going a bit over-board.
We are trying to take common-sense precautions.

Interesting thoughts Maxine. One of the world's biggest vacation spots... hmmm...

Susan, our Penless Writer said it well when she quoted Matt. 24... the Lord's return is soon. Even so come quickly Lord Jesus.

As for precautions, we're just making sure we wash our hands well when we return from anywhere like a store.

It is interesting how everyone is in a panic, however. May we use this an an opportunity to point people to Jesus.

BTW - I'm having a book giveaway contest on my site. Please feel free to pass the word along. The winner will be announced on Mother's Day!
