Blessed Assurance Again

I made this post a year ago on Mother's Day. I spoke about my mom and her love for this hymn. Unfortunately, I didn't get to the grave today as I typically do. I wanted to go, but just couldn't make it this time. She not there, anyway. I'm pretty sure about the truth of the words written on her tombstone: "Absent from the body, Present with the Lord." So the tears I've shed through the years are for myself, not her. This year, I won't just talk about her favorite hymn, I'll post it.

And may I wish all of you dear friends a Happy Mother's Day? Many of you are mothers, for which you can be most thankful. And many of you have your mothers, of which you may be most thankful. May you have the blessed assurance that Jesus is yours and you are His. That's best of all.

Bless├Ęd assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long
.

Very true. Death is always a shock because eternity is so wired into us. To know that departed loved ones are not truly dead in the sense that they are alive and hid in Christ, with a reunion in our future, is one of our greatest comforts.

Those who are merely religious know nothing about the assurance that comes supernatural to those who have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. He brings a peace they will never know or find outside of Christ.
