Dressing for Your Salad

Photobucket

Doesn't this salad look scrumptious? (By the way, I didn't make it.) This would do me for a whole meal! Do you like peas in your salad? I do. In fact, I love peas and/or corn in salads.

There is something I've been wondering about for a while now: What salad dressing is most popular? I wonder what dressing do waitresses get the highest call for. Anybody know that statistic? What's your favorite? Mine is ranch. Sure would love to have a bowl of this salad with some ranch dressing right now. Yum.

Lately I've been eating salad almost every day, especially because of the need to shed a few pounds. It's good for a lot of what ails us, especially as a precursor for dinner, because I really do think it helps to keep us from stuffing ourselves on the main meal.
I would venture a guess that salad is one of the most popular dishes in America and I would also say that it deserves that distinction. So, which is your favorite salad dressing? Do any of you make your own from scratch? I've tried that in the past, but have gotten away from it these days, even though I'm sure it would be better to have one less processed food item in our pantry. Oh, I thought I would mention also that I try to eat the light version of the ranch.

I could dive into that salad right now! I think I'll go make one.

I'm praying for your sister. I received your message. Remain encouraged in the LORD dear sister.

You encouraged me to make a big salad for lunch. I have a dab of left over ham to chop up and add to it and YUM!!!!

My preference is Ranch although I've just recently bought a Poppy Sead dressing that is very good. I do make a Vingerette from time to time that is very good. I like to make it up when we are having company.

When I eat out, which is often, I love Blue Cheese ~ the most fattening of course. But I dip my bites in the dressing most of the time, unless I just have to eat more. I read about that hint on saving calories awhile back. But I eat a lot of salads at home too, and make an oil and vinegar dressing. I use 2 Tbsp. Extra Virgin olive oil and 1 Tbsp. of Balsam vinegar. Sometimes I add a little garlic powder.

The salad we serve where I work has a Balsamic vinegar dressing that everyone raves over! Most of our customers don't even like me to collect their plates until they've sopped up every last drop with the rolls - which are also great!! As for me, I don't use dressing at all - too many calories. :)

Definitely Ranch. I didn't even really like salads until ranch dressing came along. Especially the one they serve at restaurants such as Chilis or Sizzler.
I've been trying make a recipe, but haven't quite got it tasting like the above.
That salad look yummy btw!

Ranch is yummy, but I love Russian or Thousand Island when you add in the relish with ketchup and mayo :)

Have a great weekend!

Looks good!!!!!!! I love the dried tomato salad dressing. I do not know the name of it but it only has 5 gms of fat..... It is tasty and we eat a LOT of salad........

I wonder how you are and have been gone too long from the blog but it seems that summer has stolen my time away........ Kinda looking for the fall, but will miss my pool!

Heads up girl friend, look up for our redemption draweth nigh!

I'd put my money on ranch as the favorite IF I were a betting woman. *grin*

I like chunky blue cheese. Mmm, love the chunks. And I would love to have a fresh cool salad right about now after viewing your photo. Yup, peas, corn...toss in black olives too.
