America Has Chosen a President

Well, it's all over, and yes, America has chosen a President. All day I've been thinking about how to close out this series and all day I've been praying for the Lord to make my heart be what He wants it to be at this time. I want to respond to this enormous event in a righteous way that's pleasing to my Lord. It's been hard and I've been floundering since nine o'clock last night. Then, in God's providence, I was led to an article written today by a man who I'm not too familiar with, but as I read it, I knew it was what I needed. I knew Mr. Mohler's response is the response that God wants from me. By the time I finished reading it to my husband, I broke down in tears, because God had answered my prayers. (Guess you've noticed that crying comes easily for me these days.) I would ask that you read it, too. Maybe God will lead you to the same place:

I'm officially closing out the election series, but I think that perhaps I'll keep "The American Dream" as a label that I'll post under from time to time, bringing thoughts and links and other things that seem appropriate, as my dream for this country has not died by any means. Hope yours hasn't either. After all, we have a God to turn to who can do anything.

Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee. Jeremiah 32:17.

what a wonderful post from this man. thank you for sharing it and your heart on this obviously hard day.

just because i voted for obama doesn't mean that i agree with all of his policies. i, too, will be praying not only for him but for our country, and for that american dream.

Still, we must press on as advocates for the unborn, for the elderly, for the infirm, and for the vulnerable. We must redouble our efforts to defend marriage and the integrity of the family. We must be vigilant to protect religious liberty and the freedom of the pulpit.

Once again, thank you SO much for doing this series! It has been a blessing to me, and your Godly perspective on this election has been so refreshing!

Love you,

So true-- thank you.

I read that article earlier today, and it really helped me, as I have been struggling with this all day.

My dream for this country hasn't died either; Mark and I long to see this country return to the Lord and to the principles and morals on which it was founded. I don't know if we'll ever see that happen here on earth or not, but I am so thankful that we know with certainty that:

... a highway will be there, a roadway,
And it will be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean will not travel on it,
But it will be for him who walks that way,
And fools will not wander on it...
But the redeemed will walk there,
And the ransomed of the Lord will return,
And come with joyful shouting to Zion,
With everlasting joy upon their heads.
They will overtake gladness and joy,
And sorrow and sighing will flee away.

(Isaiah 35:8-10)

Aww, you guys are making me cry again! Don't we have a wonderful God and King?

Beka, especially thank you for that passage, a favorite of mine.

That is a good article, Maxine. Thanks for sharing it. And I loved Beka's comment too.

Maxine, I had been sent that same article and just read it a few minutes ago.

You know that I didn't vote for Obama. Being a Christian and a conservative, I could not have voted for his Change, since it is against biblical principles.

Mr. Mohler makes some great points.I know the Bible says we need to pray or our leaders. But right now, that is hard to do, considering all the things that went on in his campaign. It's hard to sweep under the rug all the lies and innuendos coming from there. I know God can change hearts and he can help me to pray for him, too.

I do know that GOD is in control, I'm still a citizen of HIS Kingdom, and life goes on. We still need to keep our eyes on him, keep our trust in him, and remember that 'all things work together for the good of those that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose'.

Dear Maxine, thank you so much for all the help you have been. I have a verse to share with you. It is found in Proverbs 21:1 "THE KING'S HEART IS IN THE HAND OF THE LORD, AS THE RIVERS OF WATER: HE TURNETH IT WHITHERSOEVER HE WILL."

I know that God is in control and I am so excited to see how God is going to use this thing that he has allowed. I want to see how he takes something that we have not agreed with, the polices of Obama and use them for our good. Whether it is to teach America a lesson and bring her back to Him or who know what God may do with Obama's heart.

I am thankful that all those young children that can now see where one day they too, can be president of the USA, if that is their desire.

Thanks again, love you, connie

Thanks, Cathy, you and I will continue to be emailing each other and upholding the cause of truth and righteousness, I'm sure. It's just beginning, really.

Barbara, your comment touches me deeply. I see your struggle. This is my struggle, too. Thanks for being so open and honest about it. Even though the Lord is enabling me to pray for him now and to see things as Mr.Mohler has outlined, I still feel the pain and have to admit I'm still working through it. But look at Connie's comment--she is so right on.

Connie, I just had a conversation with my daughter and said almost exactly what you just said in this comment. Connie, I can't tell you how much of an inspiration you are to me, in ways you don't even know.
